3 years in the making and our printed bags have finally dropped.
Believe or not this design was actually ready to hit the shelves when we launched our loose but for many reasons (quality issues, high minimum orders, colours) it's been delayed.
We're perfectionists and damn, now these are perfect.
We've increased the size slightly to accommodate a pain point we were aware of; the bags being too full!
Who knew you could have too much chalk?
In our vision to create a great value product utilising the minimum packaging at Gekco, we crammed our 275g loose chalk bags full of chalk! (we're champions of good value, maybe it's our Yorkshire blood) This meant unless you tapped the bag down before tearing it, you might end up with a some spilt chalk.
We want our products to be both engineered for the best usable whilst also being good for the environment. We've managed to add only 2g more paper per bag, preventing any spills whilst keeping the pack size at 275g!
A big USP of Gekco loose chalk has always been our packaging and it's eco credentials. Our packaging is both paper recyclable AND home compostable. We've really tried to emphasise that with this new design, making clear that it can be paper recycled and contains ZERO plastic. You hear a lot of the word "compostable" being thrown around on packaging when it's actually only INDUSTRIALLY compostable, meaning it won't break down in normal compost piles but only in biomass reactors. This usually extends to it's recyclability too, industrially compostable packaging is not paper recyclable. With Gekco you get both of the goodies, paper recycling, which everyone has access to, and hey, if you have a compost pile and want to feed the worms, Gekco can help with that too.
One thing we're super psyched on is being able to bring our iconic Gekco green to our loose chalk bags. Black and white has always been our "beta" design (keep your eyes peeled for more new products coming your way soon) and it's a proud moment to see our bags evolve into their adult status.
