Marketing Executive


Salary: £24,000-32,000 (dependent on experience)

Permanent and Full-Time (40 hours or 33 hours available) 

Location: Womersley, Yorkshire (DN6) with 1-2 WFH days per week

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re incredibly excited to be hiring for a driven, experienced and passionate marketeer to join our tight-knit, growing team. GEKCO is a brand putting planet before profit, on a mission to make climbing chalk greener (environmentally-friendly) and better (higher-performance) with innovative products.

Over the past four years we’ve disrupted the UK market establishing GEKCO as the go-to-brand for planet and performance within climbing. 2025 marks a pivotal year for us, with multiple innovative product launches, new markets being entered and our first true focus on growth.

 

This role is an incredible opportunity to join our journey as we grow. You’ll have exposure to various aspects of the business, working closely with the founder and gaining experience that’s hard to find in larger companies. While you’ll primarily focus on execution, there will also be opportunities to contribute to strategic discussions and see the impact of your work firsthand. For the right person, this role offers progression to a senior position with more strategic responsibility in the future.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Assist in the development and lead in the execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns.

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify and implement strategies, opportunities, and emerging trends.

  • Manage and grow social media accounts creating and curating inspiring, on-brand content for the climbing community and wider audience.

  • Optimise the company profile across digital platforms and in physical spaces increasing brand awareness and value.

  • Write and optimise compelling copy for various channels, such as websites, blogs, newsletters, social media, sales campaigns and in person events.

  • Create and manage physical and digital marketing assets, including graphics, video content, and promotional materials.

  • Collaborate with external partners to execute the marketing strategies ensuring cohesive and authentic branding throughout.

  • In person sampling events at stockists and competitions, educating and empowering climbers through sharing the brand mission and product Unique Selling Points (USPs).

  • Track and report on the performance of marketing efforts, deriving ROI and using insights from this data to inform strategy improvements.

Key Skills and Attributes

Must-Haves:

  • A positive, enthusiastic personality with a passion for marketing

  • An interest in sport, particularly climbing (or a willingness to learn about it)

  • A good understanding and interest in business, psychology and consumer habits

  • A growth mindset and can-do attitude

  • A willingness to learn new skills and ask questions

  • Pride in producing top-quality work and hold extremely high standards

  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to adapt to last-minute changes

  • An understanding of the critical importance of ROI within a startup environment

  • Initiative to independently lead projects beyond your comfort zone

  • Creative and proactive problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency with marketing platforms and tools, including Google Ads & Analytics; social media management and paid ads (TikTok, IG, IGthreads, FB); and Squarespace content management 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a passion for storytelling, copywriting and ideally climbing

  • Experience in multi-media content creation and curation (copywriting, photography, videography, graphic design) preferably with proficiency in industry editing tools such as Adobe Suite

  • Proficiency with G Suite & Asana

  • Experience in both B2B and B2C marketing settings
